Veteran Washington insider Mark Shields
scheduled to give behind-the-scenes perspectives.

On February 4, nationally known columnist and commentator Mark Shields will speak before two Emerson Center audiences (4PM and 7PM) in programs which promise to be entertaining and informative.

Speaking from experienced gained by working in Washington through the administrations of nine U.S. Presidents, Mark Shields has covered or participated in the last 11 presidential elections, including New York Senator Robert F. Kennedy’s presidential campaign. He has written editorials for The Washington Post, added commentary for the PBS NewsHour, and moderated CNN’s Capital Gang. He now is a regular panelist on Inside Washington, the weekly public affairs show which is seen on both ABC and PBS. The Wall Street Journal has called Mark Shields “the wittiest political analyst around” and The Washington Post has called Shields “a walking almanac of American politics.” (Read more about Mark Shields.)

"Mark Shields is extremely witty and entertaining," acknowledges Don Croteau, a volunteer with The Emerson Center. "You don't want to miss this speaker. His appearance in Vero Beach will be talked about long after he's gone."

To purchase tickets, call 772.778.5249 or visit us online. And, by the way, if you missed getting season tickets this year, you can still benefit from signing up for a four-show "short season." This package enables you to purchase the last four shows of our season - Mark Shields, Neil deGrasse Tyson, Joe Scarborough, and Bob Woodward. Especially for the 7PM performances, good seats are still available.

This year, let's do something special for Valentines Day.

Accomplished pianist Bob Milne's Valentine's Day concert at The Emerson Center on Feb. 14 at 7 PM will be a wonderful blend of those spirited ragtime/boogie-woogie tunes (for which Milne's has earned international acclaim) with those especially cherished romantic melodies we all recall so dearly.

The concert, entitled "Ragtime, Romance, and Roses," may make you "...want to grab somebody's hand and give it a squeeze," Milne observes. "If you feel like tapping your toes, go right ahead. And, if you want to dance in the aisles, enjoy yourself. We will have no shortage of fun at this Valentine's concert." See a quick video visit with this talented pianist by clicking here.

To make the evening even more memorable, Monti's Flower Market in Vero Beach has arranged for the first 200 couples (or unaccompanied ladies) purchasing tickets to receive a complimentary rose. According to Monti Jones, this is "our way to help make this special evening even more special."

Tickets are $20 per person in advance; $25 at the door. Order your tickets online now or call our Box Office at 772.778.5249.
